The Local Faith & Belief Community Awards are about identifying and celebrating faith based social action, highlighting the contribution of often unsung faith and belief groups to their local communities.
The Local Faith & Belief Community Awards are an offshoot of the London Faith & Belief Community Awards, our annual awards ceremony celebrating faith and belief projects across London. The awards bring together individuals and organisations working in the same area, celebrating the often unsung work of local faith and community groups.
The awards were inspired by our work with the Greater London Lieutenancy and their realisation that faith & belief groups were underrepresented in schemes such as the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services and they really wanted to develop a relationship with faith groups across London and especially those working within marginalised communities. The awards are supported by the Greater London Lieutenancy’s Council on Faith, the City Bridge Trust and Dangoor Education.
The awards have been running for the last five years. To date we have worked in Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Southwark, Waltham Forest, Camden and Southwark. Our model has also been adopted in other boroughs.
